Butterfly Audience Reviews

Manthast Absolutely amazing
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Keira Brennan The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Kirpianuscus one of films who reminds the flavor of childhood in delicate manner. for colors, for buildings, for animation itself, for message. far to be surprising. because it is only one of testimonies about the high art of Soviet school of cinema. it is something magic and seductive and innocent and powerful in this short film who seems be the perfect definition of life. sure, it could be an illusion. but the realism of boy, the dream, the body covered by butterflies, the music and the picture of group are pieces from another universe . profound more than realistic. an useful film for the remind of the taste of an age. and, sure, a moral lesson. but, more important, a convincing speech about beauty. and about respect for life.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Babochka" or "Butterfly" is a Soviet 10-minute short film from 1972, so it has its 45th anniversary next year. The director is Andrey Khrzhanovskiy and the script comes from Roza Khusnutdinova. I must say I only liked parts here like when the boy is trying to catch the butterfly, but then roles are reversed and the butterfly catches him all of a sudden. But on many occasions, this film lost itself trying to be as creative and mind-blowing as possible and not only sacrificed realism for it, but also quality storytelling, because it felt pretentious quickly and I guess this is one rare occasions where you can actually describe a Soviet animated movie as style over substance. I personally think the bad outweighs the good here and I don't recommend the watch. Thumbs down.
Armand all is magic. animation, idea, music.the boy change. his dream.and the colors. a film about nature and the relationship with it.about heart of things and about beauty, freedom and the sense of things.short, a splendid Soviet short animation out of surprises, touching for details, remembering childhood slices and the mystery of life.and discovering a different manner to use animation, more credible, more sentimental than 3 D effects. a film about butterflies but with gentle inspiration to suggest more than the classic motifs. an useful film. seductive, simple, touching and precise in its message. one of the animations who reminds the magic of genre, that mixture between dream and importance of small things.
