I saw this movie before reading any reviews, and I thought it was very funny. I was very surprised to see the overwhelmingly negative reviews this film received from critics.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

A movie which would never have been made if Arthur Penn's "Bonnie and Clyde had not been a blockbuster everywhere the year before.First there was a song "La Bande à Bonnot" sung by Joe Dassin(son of Jules) ,and then this film...Well I do not like it very much ,but it's nice to see Jacques Brel ,Annie Girardot and a good cast. The story itself is never really exciting, dealing with anarchists ,but violent ones. The Bonnot gang is certainly more faithful to the historical models than their American counterparts of the Barrow gang ,but their story is not more interesting for all that.Penn's film's strength was to make dashing Robin Hoods of two lousy gangsters. In spite of the actors,"la Bande à Bonnot" is a boring work.
