Bobby Jasoos Audience Reviews

Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

tkmctcr Plot overall is average but still watchable. But the lingo which is the key doesn't strike that much. The lead characters speak very bad "Hyderabadi". Many of the not so significant characters nailed it though. Misses the whole point of the movie being set in Hyderabad. Vidya who is always lauded for her versatile acting has somehow fallen short in impressing us with this one, its very disappointing. Even a senior actor like Kiran Kumar fails to impress. Tanvi Azmi did really well in this movie. I am very curious as to why she (Tanvi) doesn't get many roles as a supporting character often. She was great in her TV series Family No. 1. Benaf Dadachanji looks promising and might prove to be great given the right break.
bobbysing To reveal the gist in the beginning itself, if you are not a lover of detective films, serials or books then you might be able to enjoy or 'DETECT' a 'DETECTIVE' from this so called JASOOSI film, hidden somewhere in its two hours. But in case you are a die-hard lover of suspense-mystery movies, tele-series or books and are well familiar with the world of Holmes, Christie, Poirot, Marple, Feluda, Byomkesh, Ibne Safi, Surender Mohan Pathak, Ved Prakash Sharma & many more, then this would be nothing more than a kid movie for you made by people, who were probably only interested in using the word JASOOS in the title and doing nothing about it in particular. In fact it is really strange or rather childish to know that most of the so called directors still conceive a Detective as someone who keeps getting into a new disguise every day to work for his taken assignment like a Behrupia (imposter) and that's it. The silly misconception truly exposes the ignorant and amateurish mindsets behind such stupid visualization, who have probably never seen or read any good detective series, movie or book to say the least. Now BOBBY JASOOS also displays a similar kind of uninformed attitude only in its first hour, since it keeps focusing on the various gets-ups donned by Vidya Balan playing the so called Lady Jasoos in a comical manner. The complete first half gets wasted in all these forced in dramatic/comedy sequences with nothing much to impress and the suspense actually begins just five minutes before the interval ruining a fine premise. However more surprisingly post intermission too the director keeps wandering between his various sub-plots of family disputes, two different marriages and more without caring about the major fact that this was actually supposed to be a funny detective film with lot of twists and turns leading towards many shocking revelations in the end as per the required format. Moreover such is courage of its makers that they even confidently puts in a love song some 20 minutes before the climax converting the film into an awful'Biryani' without any inviting look as well as taste. Now why I have used 'Biryani' here would be more clear to the friends who have already wasted their money & time on this over the top film made on a poor script.A detective venture is bound to have a thrilling and intriguing climax revealing all the hidden secrets in style by its main protagonist. But very strangely, again the makers don't take care of this major requirement of a detective film at all and present a pretty ordinary finale without answering many major questions about the case solved by Bobby like what was the fear all about and where did the families actually vanished.Expectedly led by Vidya Balan from the front quite confidently, the film also has two other noteworthy performances by Rajendra Gupta and Ali Faizal. But at the same time, it goes on wasting many talented names too such as Supriya Pathak, Zarina Wahab and Tanvi Azmi in only a few scenes. Kiran Kumar, Arjan Bajwa are just OK and the remaining cast works fine in their respective roles. As a performer, we all know Vidya Balan as a powerhouse full of talent, proved repeatedly. But frankly getting into more than 8-9 get-ups doesn't make a detective film to be straight. A Jasoosi film needs to have a fine story progression leading towards a captivating crescendo showcasing the actual hidden truth interestingly. But BOBBY JASOOS offers nothing of that sort in the end and can easily be called as a 'Cold Dish' and that too presented without any great preparation by its makers like an amateur chef.No doubt Vidya tries her best to deliver another great performance of her career as projected, learning the Hyderabadi accent well. But in reality, she not even gets close to the legendary Sanjeev Kumar doing nine different roles in NAYA DIN NAYI RAAT(1974), if only one wants to study the same in comparison terms. Hari Bhai (as fondly called) did that rare splendid act to perfection and Vidya's most of the getups were not even properly done with padding visibly coming out of her arms in one of the ugly ones. Plus keeping in mind her last venture GHANCHAKKAR, I am forced to assume that Vidya is now probably gone into the avoidable zone of over-confidence experimenting with many new concepts. But her vision is not being properly reciprocated and understood well by the directors she is working with. And BOBBY JASOOS is the perfect example of the same, evidently.Anyway in spite of all its big shortcomings, the two major positive points about the film remain that firstly it's a different genre (a detective film) bravely tried by the makers after a long time. And secondly where we did have many male detectives in the past like DO JASOOS (1975), GOPICHAND JASOOS (1982)and more, we never really had a lady detective portrayed as the lead character in a film as well in its title ever before in the history of Hindi Films. So BOBBY JASOOS at least deserves some extra marks for these two positive points alone but can also easily be skipped till its Cable or Home Video release in the coming months.
Noyon Jyoti Parasara Bobby Jasoos wastes no time. The very first scene introduces us to the antiques of this talented private detective who wishes to make it big but as of now is only making small money on petty cases - like snooping on lovers and working on extra-marital cases. Set in Moghalpura, Hyderabad, Bobby Jasoos is the story of a woman who wants to become a famous detective. Equipped with sharp mind, polished by detective shows on TV, things are never easy for Bobby. She is a woman after all! More so because a father who is disapproving of her conduct.Read more on - http://www.nowrunning.com/movie/14163/bollywood.hindi/bobby- jasoos/4738/review.htm
