HumanoidOfFlesh Canadian body builder Steve Hawkes plays Vietnam vet named Herschell who smokes a lot of weed and turns into vampiric were-turkey after eating a scientifically-altered turkey prepared by two scientists in their laboratory.He quickly begins to stalk and kill young female junkies and drink their blood."Blood Freak" by Brad F.Grinter and Steve Hawkes has to be seen to be believed.There is even uplifting pro-Christian message at the end.The film is gleefully bizarre and has some amateurish gore scenes including table saw leg cutting.The acting is hilariously bad,the editing is awful and Grinter's speeches are utterly stupid.6 cold turkeys out of 10."How can such a big hunk of man be such a damn coward?"

Brad Morelli Let me first state that this movie defies any kind of plot or logic. What I'm about to speak on is pure speculation of what I believed to have happened.The film opens with some kind of "guru" explaining matters of life and the premise of the movie. Why? Well, why not? Our main character Herschell dresses and acts exactly like Elvis, so you know it's gonna be... interesting. Shortly after, Herschell makes his way to a house with a groovy 70's drug/orgy party going on. He believes in doing the "right" thing and the principles of the Bible, so he declines any participation. That is, until later he submits to the insurmountable peer pressure of being called a "coward" and takes a puff off a joint. Oh no, he begins writhing in pain on the ground because he's so badly addicted! Beware kids, one hit off a joint and you're a full blown junkie! The acting is HILARIOUS. I've seen a lot of bad movies, but this one is definitely near the top. After Herschell gets turned into the turkey monster, he visits his girlfriend who proceeds to contemplate what it would be like if he stayed as the turkey monster forever. "I wonder what the children would think? What would I tell them about you?" I don't know, but you could start by saying that their dad is a TURKEY.Like any rambling man who dresses like Elvis in the 70's, Herschell is looking for a job. He gets a job working at a turkey farm and agrees to be part of an experiment by eating some funky turkey. Before he can finish eating, he writhes on the ground in some incredibly awesome spasms, and the turkey monster is born. Naturally, he's strung out after that one hit of marijuana (because who isn't?), so the only thing that will satiate his hunger is the blood of fellow druggies. He hunts them down, ties them up like cattle, slits them, and cups his hands to pick up the blood and drink it. It's quite the ritual.What can I say really? This is the best Elvis turns into a turkey movie ever, and I dare anyone to defy me. I think I know who I want to be for Halloween this year.

jfgibson73 I'm giving this movie an 8 out of ten because I find it very entertaining. However, anyone thinking about watching it should know it is a terrible movie, very low-budget and amateurish. I happen to be a fan of movies that are so bad they're good, and this was the one that got me into them.I happened to see this movie for the first time on Thanksgiving night, 2001. I was living in the Detroit area, and a local horror host called The Ghoul happened to be showing it that night. I was flipping channels while over at a friend's house, and we were doing something else, not really paying attention. However, the longer the movie went on, the more difficult it became to look away. I was transfixed by the absurdity. I had watched campy movies before, but something was different about this one. Something about the atmosphere it created, the unusual characters, and the ridiculous dialog and situations.I eventually ended up buying on the Something Weird DVD, loaded with TONS of great extras. Now, I am interested in finding more movies like it. Because of Blood Freak, I have discovered many other movies that may seem unwatchable, but are actually a lot more fun than the slick, predictable formula that makes it to the theater. I think that my love for movies was broadened as a result.I realize this is more of a personal memoir than a movie review, but that is mainly what I use this site for. It helps me keep track of the movies I've seen and what I thought about them at the time.

sb88 Upon hearing about how awful this movie apparently was, I was ready for an incredibly horrible and amusing ride. I had no idea just how bad it would be.Writing, directing, acting, special effects and even sound fail on every single level. Watching it, it was hard to believe that such a movie could even be made in a serious manner. It's sheer awfulness will amaze.It's only redeeming quality is just how hilarious it is. The plot itself of a man turning into a chicken in some bizarre drugs gone wrong scenario and then killing people is absurd enough as it is, but the outfit worn is what makes it truly laugh-out-loud funny.How bad and hilarious is it? Well, it really has to be seen to be believed. No matter what you're expecting, it'll be worse and, thankfully, even more hilarious.
