Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

I recently picked up Letters from a Porcupine and was blown away by the amount of footage it contained. Live shows, appearances, concerts, interviews, and media coverage, not to mention all of their videos. I was reminded of just how amazing this band was live and would recommend it to anyone who is a music fan. Even if you didn't follow the band at their peak, Shannon Hoon's vocals are so powerful that you'll walk away wondering why you didn't. They were truly one of the best bands to come out of the 90's, period.The documentary doesn't lead you down the path of a self destructive rock star. To its credit it sidesteps the "in hindsight, lessons learned," babble and celebrates a moment in time that many consider the best of their lives. It does, however, at times suggest what we already know; that Rock & Roll is a business when all is said and done, and can turn what was once an avenue for self expression into a pressure filled career. But then, the same can be said about any job, can't it? Excellent DVD, and well worth the price on Amazon.

Recordings of live shows, Blind Melon in the studio, the story of Blind Melon, and all the music videos they made. This DVD covers all the bases.I'm not sure why the people who did not rate this highly thought that it wasn't worthy of their high rating, but I can tell you that from a Blind Melon fan's perspective, this is a fantastic DVD.I was too young to get to see Blind Melon in concert, but the live recordings gave me a chance to see what it would have been like. I was off of my couch head banging and such for several of the songs.Many of the music videos didn't make it on the air. Most of us realize that Blind Melon didn't get quite as much exposure as they deserved. This DVD has all the music videos, which are quite good. Off the top of my head, there are around 10 of them. I had never seen a video besides No Rain, so that was a big surprise for me.If you're not a Blind Melon fan, this probably isn't for you. If you are, it's going to knock your socks off. That's about all I can say.

Shannon Hoon has got to be one of the most talented singers of the 20th century. I bought "Letters from a Porcupine" on DVD, and I think that it's great! It has all of their videos, including one for one of Blind Melon's greatest songs, "change," and it includes clips of them from their every day life. This is a must have for any Blind Melon fan. It's hard to find DVD's (or VHS') of bands like them. But if you listen to bands like Pearl Jam, or the Black Crowes, I highly recommend you give Blind Melon a listen. They have a very vivacious, unique sound in their music which is hard to find these days, and the lyrics are incredible. Unfortunately Shannon Hoon is deceased, now, so there won't be any follow up albums. I also own their self titles album and their album entitled "Soup", and "Nico". All of them are equally good, but to be able to actually watch them on video is a great experience, so i highly recommend it. If you're unsure as to whether or not it's worth the money, I can tell you it certainly is.
