SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

After the brilliant finale to Battlestar Galactica, I had mixed feelings about watching its addendum "The Plan". On one hand, I wanted another couple hours of watching "the old gang" again. On the other, though, the ending was so great that I didn't want it to be tarnished in any form. Ultimately, while "The Plan" doesn't specifically take away from the incredible run of BSG, it also doesn't add anything interesting to the overall story, either.Basically, "The Plan" is the BSG writers' way of covering their collective butts because of the whole "Cylons have a plan" quote referenced in the opening titles. That plan was never really expanded upon during the run of the show, so this little film tries to flesh out the Cylon point of view. The trouble, however, is that "The Plan" amounts to little more than minutiae in the background of an incredible show. BSG is such a big-concept show that all the "background stuff" just doesn't really have a place in the cannon. It doesn't help that, in "The Plan", the Cylons are reduced to little more than guerrilla warriors after their initial attack fails to wipe out all of humanity. As such, the character-development in this installment is pitiful compared to the human-Cylon relations during the series. The only reason I can give this set a two-star rating is that, on a couple of occasions, it gives some insight into why an event happened or what a character was thinking. Sadly, those moments are few and far between.Overall, then, I can even go so far as to say that "The Plan" is not at all required watching for BSG fans. Most fans will watch because they can't get enough, but at no time does "The Plan" offer any plots, character development, action, or storyline that even remotely resemble the emotion and splendor of the BSG series. It is kind of sad that this dud will be the last taste of BSG that viewers will get. Thus, unless you can't help yourself, skip "The Plan" and continue to bask in the greatest of the regular series airing and its incredible finale.

The synopsis given by "official" sources says that this movie reveals the Cylons' Plans from before the attack on the colonies up through the end of Season 2.This review will be extremely short, as talking about much of it at all would be spoiling both the movie and the series. The movie basically follows 'Number 1,' both the one on Caprica and the one in the fleet, and how they change throughout the course of the series. Unfortunately, it only covers up through season 2, so this so called "Plan" was boiled down to simply kill all humans. Nothing the audience of BSG didn't already know, right? The movie was okay, but it ended up feeling like a long string of deleted scenes from the series. If you have seen the whole series, then it is a must-see, even if there is nothing new.Taken as a standalone movie, it is easily a 1/10. However, there is NO WAY someone who has not seen the entire series of BSG should even consider watching this. It doesn't introduce anything new really, but it is a decent addition/companion to the series that all hardcore fans need to see.

If The Plan is the last of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica that we'll ever see, does it complete the series in a bang, or a whimper?I'd say somewhere between the two. Where Razor was a fun side-story that added some welcome, but unessential details to the Battlestar Galactica cannon, The Plan is really nothing more than a retelling of the majority of the story, from the Cylon's point of view. Specifically, the points of view of two Cavil's and two Simon's.We get a few answers during the movie that explain some minor, niggling questions, and those were pretty cool. But everything else is either just a review of events that were driven by the Cavil's, outside of our knowledge, a few scenes that more fully integrate the Final Five into the earlier parts of the series, or a look at the experiences that the two Simon's had with the humans that they were close to. One's and Four's are among my least favorite Cylon models, so I can't say that I was exactly thrilled that they were the focus of the majority of the story. But I did feel like I knew more about the Cylons and the mythology of the series after I watched it, so it was worthwhile for me. I'm not going to complain about any new BSG, and getting to see some of my favorite characters one last time was worth the price of admission, by itself. Just look at it as a long recap episode with some never before seen footage, and you won't be disappointed. Razor was better, but The Plan serves its purpose somewhat well, and its a bittersweet final entry for anyone who's a fan of one of the best TV shows in years.

If this ran in October of '09 then my wife and I missed it. A little surprising since SciFi (or whatever it's called now) is a channel we generally keep our eye on.Since the series is over and we can't get any more BSG, then I very much disagree with the nay-sayers. Maybe they think a TV SHOW is supposed to make them tea or fix their frakkin' car. No, it's amusement and we thought it weaved an interesting thread through the series, and showed some amusing goings-on that were heretofore unknown. It focused on the cylon models that didn't get as much face time in the series, and those actors were worthy of the attention. Yes, it seemed like maybe there was some footage that might have been canned during a given episode, but it wasn't because it sucked, but because an episode lasts 42 minutes (mol) and they usually shoot much more. The Plan was still part and parcel the storyline we craved and the characters we had grown to love or hate. And it had its dark places. It seemed like they were going to address the mystery of the phantom ship in the "33" episode, which was a great one, but that not happening was my only real disappointment.Try not to over-think it. If you liked BSG, then you will like The Plan.
