Nonureva Really Surprised!
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
Jerrie It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
bmtauto This is a classic case of the lines being blurred with businesses now taking it upon themselves to inject as much PC or left wing agenda as possible. We can't watch a decent Batman animation without something being shoved down our throats and the story line being skewed. Batwoman isn't part of the click. She just appears in this one. A black version of iron man. It was an ok idea. Just wasn't executed well enough. No reason to have batwoman be a freaking lesbian who doesn't come with the correct backstory. I'm not buying this one.
TheLittleSongbird Love animation and have really enjoyed to loved many superhero films, animated and live-action. Justice League has always interested me too. Of the DC animated films, there are some good ones out there as well as some disappointments. 'Batman: Bad Blood' is one of the bigger disappointments and towards the weaker half of the DC animated films. To me, it is not as bad as has been made out, there are some good qualities here, but agree with a lot of the criticisms made and feel it could have been much better. There was actually a good idea on paper here, this good idea just on the most part didn't make it on screen and this is a big shame.Starting with the good things, the best thing about 'Batman: Bad Blood' is the animation. There are some very nice detailed backgrounds, the characters are designed well and the colours are dynamic and atmospheric. The music is both haunting and rousing, a good fit for the film's mood. Alfred is awesome as one can hope, just wish there was more, and Dick and Nightwing are also handled well. The voice acting for the heroes is pretty decent, from especially Sean Maher, Stuart Allan and James Garrett. Jason O'Mara is credible as Batman, but has little to do. Morena Maccarin actually does a quite good job as Talia Al Ghul all things considered, that the character is disappointingly written does not rest at her door in terms of blame, it's the writers' fault entirely. Some of the action is well animated and has its thrills. However, 'Batman: Bad Blood' does have a lot against it. Namely that it has too many characters (most of them handled in a way that underwhelms), trying to include too many subplots of very variable quality, crammed into a far too short running time, meaning that the film . As said, few of the characters are satisfactorily handled. For a title that indicates that it's a Batman film, even when one is reading the film's summary, there is far too little of Batman and far too much of the significantly less interesting Batwoman, who is not an interesting or well explored character at all and is instead one-dimensional, clichéd and very difficult to like let alone engage with. Saw absolutely no point to the inclusion of Batwing, whose character suffers from all the problems with Batwoman except the screen time issue. A much better job could have been done with the villains, devoid of much menace or complexity on the whole with very vague motivations. The exception is the suitably mysterious Heretic, but needed more to do. Meanwhile Talia Al Ghul is particularly wronged here.Writing on the most part takes simplicity to the extreme and becomes simplistic and feels stilted as well. So many cringe-worthy lines here. The main story was potentially interesting but wasn't gritty enough or focused on enough, even getting lost amidst the attempts at developing the new characters that come off unsuccessfully. It is agreed that the male villains' voice acting is too similar, mainly because at least three of them are in multiple roles that they all sound too samey in, John Di Maggio a particular example and usually Di Maggio is very good at voicing villains. While Steve Blum is a very talented voice actor and has often excelled in voicing villains, he's over-parted. The action on the most part lacks tension, and the far too easy, abrupt and insulting dispatching of some of the villains does them no justice. In conclusion, disappointing but not unwatchable. 4/10 Bethany Cox
Andres Suarez I'm not gonna spoil the movie and tell you what happens and doesn't happen specifically. DC animated has been far more enjoyable than live action since ever (except for the Nolan trilogy) and this is no exception. The plot and pacing are OK, not masterpieces, but are decent enough. The problem with the movie is the characters in it. They are the worst. From batman to the electrocutioner, they have little to no development, and the few ones that do are just forced. It seems that as long as you are a good guy/girl, have a small background in combat/military training and have a connection with Bruce Wayne you are good enough to fight any villain and successfully manipulate any technology that falls into your hands. That for me is just lazy writing. New "superheroes" lose against C listers villains all the time, but after a pep talk or finding determination in their heart, they manage to stand toe to toe against enemies that even the Batman has trouble fighting (Talking to you Batwoman). I get that you want to make the newcomers look like bad asses, but you are just ruining what little credibility Batman has since "Batman vs. Robin". Dick, Bruce and Damian have trained their whole lives to fight crime, they are the ones who I believe can take them down, not a troubled girl with a stupid motivation or an ex soldier with nothing else to do (I'm not saying that soldiers aren't good enough, but if that were the true in DCs universe, any ex soldier could be a superhero). The rest of the movie was acceptable, but bat woman being a little c*nt from start to finish and being rewarded in the end just makes my blood boil. At least they got over with the Batfamily (until Jason Todd and Barbara Gordon come into play) and maybe they can finally move on to something more coherent plot and character wise. This relief is the only reason I give this movie 6 stars.P.S.: I don't get why so many people complain about the fight scenes, with a plot and characters so annoying, the hand to hand fight scenes are the only thing that save this toy commercial disguised as a movie.P.S.2: Don't worry about any little character in this movie, they just serve to the purpose of showing the audience how combat skills are totally dismissed throughout the entirety of the film. They win or lose just because the script says so, sometimes they can be stronger than superman and other times they are weaker than Jimmy Olsen.
jonhathan-98069 While the style of the animation is fairly good, the script is very poor and simplistic with the little complex angles (Heretic) being few and far between. I'm not really sure to whom they are addressing this movie: as an example (and there are way too many in any of the action scenes) the way Damien takes some blows from Blockbuster and keeps fighting like he is immune to damage is just too big a leap of faith to ask anyone over 12 years old and the gritty tone of the whole movie is too dark for anyone under that age.Why some directors keep ruining something so full of potential as the Batman universe keeps baffling me...
