This is How Movies Should Be Made
Humaira Grant
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
Ezmae Chang
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

"Baskin" is a little short movie from Turkey that runs for 11 minutes, slightly over, and received a great deal of awards attention, way more apparently than it says here on IMDb. It was released back in 2013, so it will have its 5th anniversary next year. The writer and one of the two directors is Can Evrenol and because of the film's success he turned it into a full feature film 2 years later (that I haven't seen). But lets talk about this short film now. It is about a police unit that comes to an apparently deserted place where they find that an orgy has taken place, but not in terms of love or passion, but in terms of bloodshed and destruction as they find many dead and those still alive heavily injured. That's all in here story-wise. The film is okay in terms of atmosphere, but maybe the genre and the plot did not really convince me. This little horror film is a bit shocking for the sake of it. If you still wanna watch it, the dialogues are so rare and irrelevant and only early on, that you can watch it without subs I guess, even if you don't speak Turkish. Maybe this is one reason why it became so successful. All in all, I personally am not convinced though and it did not get me curious about the long version. I give this one a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
