Plantiana Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
ScoobyMint Disappointment for a huge fan!
Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
billingwizard Poor acting and weak storyline make this a totally missable movie
sykespj A surprisingly well-acted and entertaining film. On the whole, the cast does a terrific job with a fairly standard 'good vanquishes evil' plot. Stefan Butler puts in an uneven performance as the Merlin character, but he has his moments.I like the fact that it's not an overblown special effects extravaganza, relying instead upon some stunning scenery and a generally pleasing look. That said, the camera crew should get some credit for getting things pretty right. Also missing is the senseless blood and gore found in most movies of its' ilk.'Arthur & Merlin' is no masterpiece, but it's no turkey either. There's a lot worse than this kicking around.
shinnstoneer-196-36478 The quality is very high in fair comparison with other indie films. The story is entertaining and kept my attention for most of the movie. Anyone that wants to compare this to the typical Hollywood epic will find it lacking but only because of their own unrealistic expectations. The acting is really above average if fairly compared to indie films as a whole. There are some minor characters who could make you cringe but like the better indie films some stand out. One particular scene was excellently portrayed by the actor playing the role. It is a moment when Merlin/Myrddin encounters someone from his childhood. The story moves along well most of the time and is well paced. I'm mystified at the person who compares the length to a Lord of the Rings movie as this one is an hour and forty minutes. One would have to watch it twice to match the exact run time of Return of the King. Those who want massive battle scenes, high end CGI and typical Hollywood budget films shouldn't waste their time. Someone who appreciates the art of cinema and solid storytelling will most likely enjoy this film as long as they're a fan of the genre.
LittleFerdinand Thought I'd give it a go a few days before Once Upon a Time Season 5 airs since I'm all hyped up about Camelot. Just so you know, Camelot isn't all about knighthood and round tables small counsel meetings. I would recommend you this Brit indie film, but be warned its of low budget and there's not much CGI in case you're wondering. As for the film, I thoroughly enjoyed it! But it was atmospheric and well shot, just like any blockbuster film you see nowadays. The image richness is quite striking and geez... who knew, it turned out to be an impressive little gem :) I have never seen this cast, but the lead roles were well cast. Scenes in the woods are all beautifully shot. Intensive CGI scenes, like in the ending were handled better than expected. I was really excited when I heard that Once Upon a Time has mashed up two great English characters from an old legend! So what are you waiting for go grab a copy from your DVD stores and know more about the duo!
