Appleseed Audience Reviews

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Stephanie There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
SnakesOnAnAfricanPlain Humans and a kind of genetic robot race live together in a perfect utopia, while a world war rages on the outside of their city. Of course, like all sci-fi, humans and robots don't get along. There are awkward issues about race, and the violence of man. It's all the same stuff that has been discussed before and in more subtle detail. Of course emotions are what makes humans both great AND evil. Blade Runner analyzed such themes with a lot more maturity. Here, the animation is nice and the action scenes are fairly awesome, even if some cheesy music invades the film at times. It could have served from dialogue being cut. Do we need lines such as "Move and I'll break your neck?" That's fairly obvious from the way you're holding her. I understand the need to explain such creative futuristic worlds, but writers need a better way to explain, instead of relying on dialogue.
Criticman12 Computer Animation and Anime are both interesting anime and most anime show's that are being released recently are combining Hand-Drawn Animation with Computer Animation. But here's a question: Have you ever wanted to see a computer-animated film with anime-looking characters? Well now you can with, "Appleseed". Based on the Manga by the same name. The movie follows the story about a warrior named, Deunan Knute, who get's plucked from fighting and find's herself in a futuristic town called, Olympus. She also discovers that half-human and half-clone citizens known as, Bioroids, live in the city. She soon teams up with her cyborg boyfriend, Briareos, to find a source of energy called, Appleseed. This film really blew me away mostly because of the animation. It was incredible. I even found the characters, Deunan and Briareos, cool. I also liked the story.I can't say much about this film because it was really amazing. This film is definitely worth watching if you're an anime fan or someone looking for a good sci-fi movie to watch.
CrassActionHero Appleseed(2004) Review: This is the new wave. Motion capture is taking storm and it looks good, but beauty is only skin deep.....Appleseed is none too different then the usual cliché. You will notice right away that it's beautiful. The first anime I saw that finally used motion capture instead of animation. No question it looks fantastic, but it's ultimately wasted here due to a flat and cliché story. For example, our hero is the ultimate fighter, has special parents, is significant to our story, and cliché villainy. I would like something original like maybe our hero is a nobody and has no special significance to the story and had worthless or just regular parents and nothing more. The clichés were just too much for me to digest. Also things get a little to over-dramatic as well. The action is good, but not enough. With the use of motion capture and the stunning visuals, I wanted more action. The Last Word: It's worth looking at, but that's it. This is otherwise nothing special. The use of motion capture and the visuals are impressive. I would like to see this art used more often. Hopefully next time, we get a good and original story.
radmc001 Fantastic piece of anime. This film has paved the way for new 3D anime films. The animation is fantastic. The characters all look human rather than looking like 90's computer characters. The opening sequence is absolutely fantastic and hooks the viewer immediately. The other action sequences that are throughout the rest of the film are good as well. The mechanical design is great and they look incredibly realistic. Weapon design is also great as is the transport. The music throughout the film does create contrast and changes the mood of the scenes. I especially liked the action sequence music. However, even though the film is great, there are some bad things about it. The shading on characters is not natural enough and the translation is not perfect. You may also need to watch the film a couple of times to fully understand the depth of the story, which isn't such a bad thing as you get to appreciate the film more when watching it again. Appleseed is a great piece of animation that has paved the way for new 3D CG films. An amazing and state of the art film. 10/10
