RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
agostino-dallas Stereotyping can happen in many ways, "cat people" are strange people who live in dirty weird houses and probably have skeletons or maybe fresh human meat in stocked in a fridge. Oh, don't forget driving some car which might have been taken out of a Stephen King's book. I don't know if these directors stereotype to be facetious or they do it because they hate cats. And cat people, I am, are usually people who love animals, nature, and we have cats because they are easier to take care of. This movie also seems like a second tier version of Stephen King's Misery. It is dull, sloppy and very, very predictable, which is the worse thing is a intended to be thriller movie. So, go fly a kite, swim in the lake, watch sports, better, do some sport!!
wibartsc Having watched quite lots of movies, I've kind of a special approach to rate some on first looks. So this one starts with an opening scene, where a man is driving a car, a woman on the front seat besides him, and a girl on the rear bench seat. It's a road like N° 1 - so especially on this road, but anyhow, the driver always has to look at the road. But was does this guy do? He constantly looks back to the girl at the rear bench seat. So after about a few instants I knew: This guy is an idiot, thereby the author must be an idiot - because he is forcing his protagonist in this role. Not any mentally sane driver keeps on looking backwards to someone on the rear bench seat. Would you consider a movie fascinating where you watch someone throwing his car key away to find him desperately trying to open his car without this key immediately afterwards? No - I didn't think so in the first place, because it's not fascinating to only be a witness of blunt imbecility. So what is the wit of a movie opening scene, where the absolutely dumb, incompetent continuously backwards looking driver finally has his imperatively required accident? There is none, there is only annoyance.Just to conclude my resentment against this movie: obviously the author doesn't like cats (which I love). Anyway he uses them in this awful movie in that special way, that shows you (at least between the lines) that cats are bad and a no-good. As I said in the title: Annoying from the first minute.
jonathan-14259 Dear IMDb user. Please do yourself a huge favor and do not watch this movie. It is 2 hours of your life you will never get back. It is the worst movie in the history of movies. Terrible acting, horrible content and horrifically slow. I usually do not write movie reviews but this movie was just so awful I just had to share my experience and vent. If you enjoy being annoyed by bad acting and an extremely slow moving film, then this is the movie for you. You will enjoy the many identical and frustrating scenes in this movie, and what drove myself insane might very well be of extreme entertainment to you. You have been warned.
bobstofko This film had me intrigued throughout the whole thing. Here we have our dread villain, Kate Bosworth, as the 'Woman' (who had a great performance) who does these atrocious actions against the protagonist. All the while you are witnessing the most INEPT of all detectives/police. Throughout the whole film I had a feeling it was coming. I knew she was going to get away. I decided this the moment they had dinner. So the Woman goes Kathy Bates, Misery-like, and inflicts her brutality on her husband for the audience. The whole film. I get it. She is crazy and he is the victim. Then it all comes full circle. So the Woman wants to have children. She is crazy. Our tormented protagonist frees himself, saves a girl caged up (who freed herself and is now in a bathtub) from drowning by the Woman and knocks her out. Here is what gets me. When the twist comes I just kept saying 'no no that is not what they are doing.' Yup, that's exactly what they did. See, of course, both of them were in on the whole kidnapping bit. Idiot male protagonist goes along with said crazy wife to kidnap a girl, for money for her treatments, to help her have a child. Husband decides that he doesn't want to do this (um, too late) and they get into the car wreck that was established at the beginning of the film. So they are both wrong, quite obviously. Then here comes the worst bit. Idiot detective pins all of this on the husband. Considering it is obvious he was drugged and beaten. Wife, as we know, killed an innocent mailman and a police officer and, of course, she is nowhere to be found. Epilogue closes with crazy wife being the husband's nurse at the hospital (zero sense). Wife gets away free so she can continue her torture spree. What really gets me is that this whole film had this woman dominance thing going. It was like it was gratifying to constantly watch a man being gagged and tortured at the Woman's whim. The film was saying, 'Ya, this is okay for a woman to do this to a man. A man is getting tortured. There must be some reason why because men are horrible and do all of the worst crimes imaginable. OH, it looks like he was just an accomplice.' (Still an accessory, of course).
